Granite is heat-proof, so hot pans and pots can be placed on a granite countertop without fear of damaging it. Of these three materials, granite is the costliest, and can be difficult to repair if chipped or scratched. However, without regular sealing, granite’s porous nature means that it can absorb oil and water, and eventually discolour or stain over time.
Customisable with hundreds of different designs, solid surface countertops are completely waterproof and won’t absorb spills. However, they are more susceptible to damage from heat or chemicals.
Quartz, also known as engineered stone, is made of compressed quartz, pigment colours and polymer resin. It can be seen as a hybrid of solid surface and granite, and takes the best traits from both. Like solid surface, it is non-porous, and it inherits some degree of granite’s resistance to heat and chemicals. Its appearance can also be customised to fit any kitchen.
The type of finishes for wardrobes and kitchen cabinets depend on a variety of factors such as design specificiations, client’s requirements and project budget.
Slices of wood skin from tree logs are used. Formed by either slicing or rotary cutting. Veneers are differentiated according to its structure, colour, and characteristics. Different processing methods adopted determine the size and appearance (striped, flame-pattern, etc.) of the veneers. Commonly used on door panel and exposed panels.
